Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I wax?
Ideally, you should wax every 4-6 weeks. Regular waxing helps slow down hair regrowth.
Can I wax on my cycle?
Yes, you can. However, keep in mind that you may experience increased sensitivity due to hormonal changes, so you might want to take a pain relief 1-2 hours prior to your appointment. Tampons and wipes are also available for sanitary purposes.
Pain tolerance?
Pain levels vary from person to person. First time waxing may feel more uncomfortable, but it usually becomes more tolerable as you continue regular sessions. You can take a pain reliever 30 minutes- 1 hour prior to help with any discomfort.
How long does the hair need to be to get waxed?
Your hair should ideally be about 1/4 inches long (about the size of a grain of rice). This ensures the wax can effectively grip the hair, resulting in smoother results.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
For the best wax results, exfoliate 24 hours prior, avoid lotions on the day of your appointment, wear loose fitting clothing, avoid caffeine 24 hours prior and stay hydrated for smoother, more comfortable results.
Can I wax if I am on medications like Accutane or Tretinoin?
Certain medications, like Accutane or retinoids including tretinoin, can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation during waxing. If you are on Accutane, you should wait at least 6 months after finishing the medication before scheduling your appointment, as it thins the skin and increases the risk of injury. For tretinoin, it’s recommended to stop using it at least 5-7 days before your waxing appointment. Always consult with your dermatologist and inform me about any medications you’re taking.
